You Should Quit Network Marketing
The tenure of a network marketer is less than 90 days on average, with most people deciding to quit network marketing before they even really give it a chance. This morning I was presented with teachable moment that I would like to share with you for consideration.
Today I was working at my computer when my wife and 12 (nearly 13) year old son appeared in the room with me. My son was in tears, declaring that he could not mow the lawn because it was “too hard!” My son has not had any difficult mowing the lawn previously, but it had rained in the last few days and it is summer in Texas, so he had just determined in his mind that he could not accomplish the task.
Now let me fill in the blanks for you. My son had already mowed over half of the yard, but he had done it in this less than dedicated fashion. He would mow about 5 minutes and then come in to take a break for another 10, before repeating the process. After an hour of this cycle, he determined that he could not mow anymore, it was just too difficult. I am not the most sympathetic dad in the world, so I told him that he needed to figure out a solution to his dilemma. He insisted that he was trying and I countered that if he was trying he would be outside with the lawnmower, not in my room crying. I told him that he needed to draw on his innovation to figure out a way to overcome his obstacles. Needless to say, the yard is now mowed.
So you may be asking: “What does this have to do with you and your network marketing business?” Too many network marketers are like my son and his lawn mowing saga. They approach their business with a hobbyist mentality and not a gut level commitment. They have not made the decision deep within themselves to push through, no matter how challenging their circumstances may be, until they have reached their goals. Like my son, many network marketers would tearfully say “I’m trying,” yet in reality their efforts have been less than all out. When they entered the business, they sent out postcards or emails to 100 friends and only a handful gave them the time of day, so they got discouraged. In the end it was a sympathetic family member who may have joined the business, which kept them going a little further. So they went online and they began to post their website link all over Facebook and yet their results were dismal. So now they have decided that multi level marketing is impossible and have made the decision to quit. Never realizing that it was a lack of commitment and failure to learn their craft that led to their demise.
Unfortunately, this describes nearly 97% of the people who enter multi level marketing. Whether it was ignorance or idealism that brought them into the business, somewhere along they way they missed the point that this is indeed a business. As with any business, a network marketing business requires a gut level commitment and raw determination to push forward. When obstacles are faced there are only 3 choices: Go over, go around or go through. Turning back is never an option and quitting is never a consideration for a serious network marketing professional.
So now I want to give you the same kind of tough love I gave my son. You joined your network marketing business, because you wanted to provide a better future for your family. You didn’t want to be bound by the limitations of being an employee. You wanted the freedom to go and do things that are only dreams for most people. You wanted to help others who were less fortunate by giving them a helping hand. These were your reasons “why.” Until you decide there is no turning back from the pursuit of these goals and aspirations, you might as well quit the network marketing business, because you are not convinced of the sheer importance of obtaining those goals.
In the end it is your commitment to your reasons why that keeps you from saying “I quit” to the business of network marketing.

Are You Leading With Your MLM Biz?
Every day I see too many network marketers who lead into every relationship with a presentation of their MLM biz opportunity. Now I am sure that if they talk to enough people (like hundreds of thousands) at some point the law of averages will kick in and they will get a few sign ups here and there. Unfortunately, they are not working in an efficient manner and it will take great quantities of prospects to make those averages profitable.
The real problem with presenting your mlm business up front is the lack of a relationship. Perhaps this example will help illustrate my point. When a marketer takes this biz first approach, it is like a man walking up to a woman he has never met before, dropping to his knee, pulling out a diamond ring and asking for her hand in marriage. As dramatic and memorable as his overture may be, the answer is most likely going to be “no.” Now to be truthful, there may be that one in a million interaction where the woman would actually say “yes.” Needless to say, I think you can understand that there are some foundational pieces missing from this example.

For people who are seeking to build their MLM business online, Facebook is a natural choice. A social platform like Facebook makes perfect sense when you consider that multi level marketing is built around the concept of relationship networks. The first and most obvious strategy is to seek out friends who have interests in common with you.
