Always Include Your Keywords

It’s a no brainer; always include your keywords on your Google AdWords ads. On the average, a person will glance away from the actual search results in just a couple of seconds. If they don’t see the keyword they’re searching for in the ads, they will go away. You must make sure that the keyword is in the ad and that the ad makes sense to your prospects. This may be difficult because there is a limited space for the ad, but an excellent advertiser can create great ads even with such little word space. Make sure that you include your keywords because if you don’t, you’re simply wasting money, time and effort.

Making Use of Bidding Strategies – High to Low Bidding

Here’s a trivia: Google ranks your ads through two categories, your bidding price and the number of clicks or Click-Through-Rate (CTR). The CTR is the number of clicks your ad gets when it was shown. As a newbie, your ads initially get a low quality score, putting you on a disadvantage compare to older and more experience advertisers. Thus, in order for you ads to show, you need to bid a litter higher than usual. Most newbies bid high to get that initial exposure. When your CTR is a higher, then you can slowly lower your bid price. You aim is to have the lowest possible price that still keeps your ad on the first page.

Tips on Bidding Strategy: Low To High

This is another bidding strategy, complete opposite of the previous bidding strategy. This is best used for keywords that are less competitive and for people who have budget that are limited. You start off by placing a low bid price and then slowly increasing that price until you reach the first page. Still, it is important to work within your budget, keep your ads on the first page while bidding as low as possible.

Make Use of Negative Keywords

Negative keywords help prevent your ads from appearing in search results that are unrelated, else your ads can appear to audiences who are not your target. There is a selected market of people you want to focus on and your ad must appears in front of them. Your ad can display to the wrong people if you don’t use negative keywords list. For example, you might be selling a dog collar and “collar” is your keyword. Your ad will appear each time a person types in “collar”, but there are many topics surrounding the word “collar” and the person may not be necessarily looking for dog collar. He may own a cat and looking for a cat collar. What you can do is to use the negative keywords function and add “cat” into it, so that your ad don’t show. You should always put in a negative keyword so that your ads do not appear on unnecessary searches. This helps you target the necessary audience only, and helps increase your CTR more.

Ad Testing

Testing ads is very important, you can do this easily with Google AdWords. In fact, you don’t have to do anything with Google AdWords at all when it comes to testing. By placing in two different ads in each AdGroup, Google AdWords then alternately displays the ads in search results. After sometime, Google will decide which ad works best and use it more often. If you have plenty of ads, you can continue the testing process until you find out which ad works best.

Everyday, Google display millions of ads online and if you plan to use Google AdWords, you need to do more to succeed. If you want to make sure that your Google AdWords campaign is successful, all you need to do is to know what is important.
